Community Partnerships

Welcome to Durango School District 9-R School/Community Partnerships!

Our high quality schools are one of many reasons Durango is one of the best places in the nation to live, and community support is vital. We recognize that strong collaborative relationships among the family, school and community produce positive educational and social outcomes for our students while also benefiting the community.

Our goals are…

  • To increase resources and services through partnerships to supplement curriculum and offer a more comprehensive learning experience
  • To create ongoing connections and relationships with approved community partnerships who share their expertise and resources with students, in and out of the school setting, that enhances learning in relevant, meaningful and authentic ways
  • To provide our students and their families access to programs or services that will support their emotional, social, and physical growth throughout the educational process to help ensure academic success
  • To have and maintain a mechanism for community partners and our schools to share their expertise and services with one another

If you want to partner with our schools:

  • To become a partner or increase your effectiveness in our schools, please complete our online form. You will be contacted for a personal discussion of how this relationship can be mutually beneficial to you and our students. For ideas of the kinds of partnership activities that 9-R offers, read Partnership Avenues.
  • For the safety of our students and staff, Durango School District Board policy requires all regular volunteers to register and undergo a background check.

If you are a teacher or administrator in our district:

Ultimately, we want our partnerships to benefit both our students and our community. For more detailed examples of these benefits, see the Benefits of School/Community Partnerships document.
